Season 1 - Bonus SCA Steaks with Brett Gallaway

In this bonus episode we do our third live podcast of the day at the Texas Cook'em High Steaks in Edinburg.  Brett Gallaway from the Steak Cookoff Association joins us to talk about the event and possible future events in the Rio Grande Valley. He gives a little history about the Steak Cookoff Associations' beginnings from 9 cookoffs 6 years ago to over 600 world wide  in 2021. He tells us about an upcoming event in Alaska and John wants to know if Bear will be one of the categories. We talk about our results in the steak category and share how Alma hit 4th place steak out of 86 teams.  

Chillin N Grillin join the conversation with Brett.  They go way back to the day they won a Golden Ticket hitting 1st place in steak at this event.  Brett tells us about a possible event in November in the Rio Grande Valley.  He give high praises to Fred Robles on the new Champions Barbecue Alliance (CBA).  We all agree that the new scoring system is pretty cool.  Brett tells us how the SCA survived during the Covid-19 pandemic.  They lost 180 events last year however managed to reschedule most of them.  He tells us all he needs is a location and date, Valley peeps....are you listening?
